Client: Ara Vartanian
Duration: 10 Weeks
SOL Services was approached by Brazilian luxury jewellery designer Ara Vartanian to fit out his London boutique, following a referral from a previous high-end residential project in Mayfair. The project involved the complete transformation of a garage unit off Berkeley Square (part of Baron Maurice Saatchi’s former home) to create an iconic showroom.
SOL worked very closely with Ara and his Brazilian architect Estudio Tupi from an early stage to develop technical solutions to their design concepts and ensure compliance with British standards and building regulations (such as advising on fire regulations and emergency lighting). This involved several challenges, including a 6-tonne curved concrete wall hand-carved on-site using traditional construction methods from Brazil. All fittings were either constructed by our skilled workforce on-site or off-site by our specialist suppliers, including steel display cabinets, with concrete back panels and bespoke furniture with specialist finishes.
The boutique is located on a narrow central London street with a mix of residential and commercial premises. We wrote to all neighbours prior to commencement, liaised with the Residents’ Society representative during the works and carefully planned working hours to minimise disruption. The project was delivered within the planned timescales and budget, with a space that reflects the distinctive Ara Vartanian brand whilst meeting all UK standards and building regulations.
