SOL Services were appointed to carry out the re-modelling and extension of several mixed-use retail outlets to create a larger unit for Sainsbury’s. This project involved re-location of several existing businesses and therefore required close liaison and with multiple parties to co-ordinate the programme. Traffic management was also a key consideration to minimise disruption to the local school and residents. The works involved:

Internal alterations: Type 3 Asbestos Survey, demolition and full internal strip-out, construction of new internal walls and floor preparation.

Construction of extension: Foundations, structural reinforced concrete floor slabs, new drainage runs, construction of structural steelwork frame, fire compartmentation works, brick and blockwork.

Roofing: Repairs to existing roof, new roof structure formed using beam and block suspended slab, carried on the new steel sub frame.

M&E: Safely terminating and capping off redundant services, provision of temporary services connections, disconnection of all A/C units for re-instatement, and connection of new gas, water and electricity supplies.

Shopfront: Demolition of internal and external walls, careful removal and protection of windows and doors for re-use by Sainsbury’s, installation of aluminium windows, automated sliding door and electric roller shutters.
